Misrepresentations about Marijuana and Hemp!

There’s a lot of confusion and misrepresentations about marijuana and hemp.  Here, we’ll try to provide some clarity.

The first thing you should know is, marijuana is hemp, but hemp is not necessarily marijuana.  The varieties of hemp that contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), are the varieties we call marijuana.  THC is the chemical which provides the “high” we associate with ingesting marijuana.

On the other hand, there are numerous strains of hemp that contain very little, if any THC at all.  These are used to produce a variety of products.

There’s a high likelihood that the oil used to anoint various religious leaders back in the day, was hemp seed oil?  Even back then, it was known for it’s healing properties.

Because it’s relatively easy to grow and will grow just about anywhere, without dangerous and costly pesticides, and without soil erosion it is actually quite a valuable plant. If we disregard the recreational and healing properties of the marijuana flower, and simply focus on the hemp stock, we have the answer to many of our ecological dilemmas.

The hemp stock can provide the raw material for paper, mitigating our deforestation problem. The Declaration of Independence was written on hemp paper.  George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, along with many others grew hemp and considered it an invaluable crop for the burgeoning country.

Instead of manufacturing and using petroleum based plastic bags that fill our landfills, hemp provides the raw material for a biodegradable cellophane.

Hemp based cellulose, is a biodegradable replacement for styrofoam.

The seeds from the hemp plant are a complete vegetarian, protein food which can be enjoyed by those of us wishing to improve our diet and our good health.

The hemp seeds may also be used as healthy feed for poultry and livestock.

Oil made from hemp has a 3:1 ratio of the essential fatty acids, omega 6 and omega 3. Both of which are essential for our healthy bodies.  The best part is, hempseed oil has a better flavor than flaxseed oil!

Hempseed oil is also a biodiesel oil and is a renewable energy source with the potential to replace fossil fuels.

With all these benefits, you’d think farmers would have been encouraged to grow such a beneficial plant.  Unfortunately, greed played an important role in undermining the value hemp could have on our society.

If you review the list of benefits above, you’ll see that some of the products that can be derived from the hemp stalk, would provide less expensive, renewable competition to a few major industries.  Back in the early 1900’s wealthy, powerful men such as JD Rockefeller, William Randolph Hearst and Andrew Mellon, worked to suppress these benefits, and instead vilified the plant using racism to associate the plant with criminal activity.  All the above mentioned men benefitted financially, by creating a fear of hemp, and eventually getting the plant outlawed, in 1937.

They used a known strategy of outlawing the natural source of potential products while monopolizing the synthetic version of those products, to insure their industries flourished, while depriving the public of a great resource.

All the above mentioned benefits do not include the health benefits of hemp, and marijuana.  One thing we know for certain is, marijuana has been used for about 5000 years within nearly every culture as a means of mitigating adverse medical symptoms.

With our country finally awakening to the potential benefits marijuana or cannabidoil (CBD), offers, serious research is only now beginning to determine just how effective hemp’s CBD can be in relieving our symptoms, naturally!

How to Choose Anti Aging Skin Care Products

Have you taken a good look at the ingredients in your anti aging skin care products? I mean, really looked at them and understood what they do? I did, recently. Talk about being surprised! And not in a good way.

As somebody who has had to take care of my skin most of my life, I was very dismayed to read the second ingredient in my skin care product of choice, was mineral oil.

Why? Well, little did I know that when you apply mineral oil to your skin it prevents your skin from breathing by clogging the pores of your skin. Mineral oil also interferes with your skin’s ability to naturally remove toxins, which can irritate the skin leading to acne, chapping and dryness. And, this is the real kicker, using an anti aging skin care product with mineral oil in it, can actually lead to premature aging of your skin!

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot – applying mineral oil to your skin can also cause your skin to become dependent on it. Kinda like your skin getting addicted to mineral oil!

What’s really irritating is I have been using this particular product for about 15 years. Essentially, I have unwittingly been making my skin worse!

But wait, how can this happen? Don’t we have the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), to watch what’s put into anti aging skin care products?

Come to find out, no, we don’t. You see, the FDA doesn’t regulate what is put in products for your skin. Since these products are not ingested, the Fed’s don’t have the mandate to review the ingredients that are put in cosmetic products.

You’re pretty much on your own. And, if you’re thinking buying an expensive skin care product is any better, think again. Some of the most expensive products, are the worst offenders.

Let me share with you what else I’ve learned. First off, let me give you a little background so this information will make some sense.

Our skin is the body’s largest organ. It contains collagen and elastin. Collagen provides strength and firmness, while elastin provides our skin with the ability to be flexible.

Both are proteins and with time tend to break down. As these proteins break down, signs of aging such as wrinkling, sagging and lines begin to appear. The best anti aging skin care products are those that stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin, to rejuvenate our skin from within.

There are a lot of creams out there that are designed to fill in the lines and wrinkles. They are simply fillers that provide the appearance smoother skin. Of course, this is but a temporary fix that is washed away with every shower.

Following are a few ingredients that you don’t want to find in your anti aging skin care products.

Clearly, mineral oil tops the list.  It’s a petroleum based product that is clear, odorless and most importantly, inexpensive.  It has been used in just about all cosmetic products, such as lotions, creams and ointments.

Mineral oil comes in different grades of purity, and there is concern that a lot of the mineral oil we are exposed to contain contaminants that could adversely affect our health. It does absolutely nothing to help your skin be healthy. It just lays on top like an oil slick…

Another ingredient to avoid is a synthetic derivative Dioxane. Dioxane or 1,4-dioxane. This ingredient has been identified by the State of California as being a cause of cancer. It is a byproduct of a method used to process ingredients, and is estimated to be in 22% of all skincare products – even though removing it is a relatively simple procedure. Yet, you may be applying this stuff to your skin!  Look for ‘Polyethylene’, ‘Polyethlene glycol’ or ‘Polyoxyethylene’, in the list of ingredients.

We all like our skin to smell great, right? Sometimes that’s even the deciding factor when comparing skin care products. “Oh, smell this one!” – right again?!  Unfortunately, most fragrances are made of ingredients that are known to be carcinogenic or toxic. Avoiding creams with fragrances would be prudent!

Then there are Parabens. There are several types of parabens that are used as preservatives and to prevent the growth of bacteria. It’s estimated that 85% of all cosmetics contain them. Yet, parabens have been shown to interfere with your body’s endocrine system, may cause cancer and, may cause allergic reactions and rashes.

Not something I want on my skin, but have faithfully been rubbing into my skin for years.

The biggest problem with paragons is they accumulate in our bodies.  So, even though you may ingest amounts, that are considered safe by the FDA, the cumulative effect could cause a variety of health problems.

Look for methylparaben, propylparben, butylparaben, ethylparaben or isobutylparaben in the list of ingredients.

Oh, and let’s not forget about alcohol. Again there are a bunch of different alcohols that can be found in anti aging skin care products. SD Alcohol, ethanol, denatured, isopropyl, methanol or ethyl alcohol

Alcohol for the most part absorbs moisture and as such can dry your skin and cause irritation. Alcohol can also strip your skin of natural protective barriers, leaving it susceptible to exposure to viruses, bacteria and mold.

Finally, there’s collagen. But wait, didn’t I just tell you collagen is an important part of your skin – that it gives your skin strength and firmness?

Yep, I sure did. But here’s the thing. Collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed by your skin when applied topically. Manufacturers use it as an ingredient in their skin care products to fool you into believing their product is superior.

However, more recently it has been discovered that fish collagen peptides, are small enough to be absorbed through our skin. So, depending on the collagen being used, it may be beneficial.

We’ve just reviewed a few ingredients you want to avoid when comparing skin care products. Now let’s take a look at a few good ingredients. Here’s an ingredient you’ll want to find.

Keratin is a key structural component of the outer layer of our skin. Clinical studies have shown Keratin (CynergyTM), derived from the wool of New Zealand sheep, improves skin cells antioxidant activity, as well improving our skin’s elasticity and hydration. That’s a good thing!

Then there’s the powerful anti oxidant Coenzyme Q10 ( CoQ10 ). This ingredient is a naturally occurring substance that acts a lot like a vitamin and is very effective in reducing the negative impact free radicals can have on our skin.

Over time and with increased age, the amount of CoQ10 available in our bodies is reduced and replenishing it is helpful to our skin.

There are different types of CoQ10. Unfortunately, most of the variations found in skin care products are unusable when applied to your skin. The best form of CoQ10 works best when paired with vitamin E.  Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 accomplishes this, making it a potent ingredient. Don’t try to pronounce it, but do look for it.

This is a special nano-emulsion form of CoQ10, can actually penetrate through seven layers of skin to protect against free radicals, providing tremendous health benefits, such as an enhanced anti wrinkling effect and the promotion of the increased production of collagen and elastin.

Any of these ingredients are good for your skin’s good health, but put them together and the result is one of the best anti aging skin care products available.

If you’d like to look and feel better, use an anti aging skin care product that includes all three.

Do yourself a favor, regardless of the price, choose your anti-aging skin care products by closely checking the ingredients!

Marijuana versus Hemp Oil

Marijuana has been used as a pharmaceutical for well over 5,000 years. The Egyptians, Chinese and just about every civilization along the way have recognized its positive affects on health. In fact, marijuana and/or hemp was introduced to Western medicine and began being included in pharmaceutical products in the 1850’s.

However with a desire to better regulate the pharmaceutical industry, as well as capitulating to social and competitive industry pressures, marijuana was eventually labelled an illegal, gateway drug attaching serious legal consequences with its production or use.

Fast forward to today, and there’s been a resurgence of interest in the legalization of marijuana, initially for it’s recreational use, but now more importantly, for it’s substantial health benefits.

The two biggest objections to using marijuana for medicinal purposes are its psychoactive effects and that it is illegal to use or produce per the Federal Government.  Regardless of the tremendous health benefits, the risk of doing time in jail is a pretty huge deterrent!

What if the psychoactive affects could be eliminated? Wouldn’t that solve both objections?

You see, there are two primary chemicals found within hemp.  One is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive chemical that produces the “high” associated with marijuana.  The other is cannabidiol (CBD), and it is this which provides medicinal qualities.

Removing the THC would resolve both issues.  THC is what causes the “high,” and is what makes the plant illegal.  By distilling the THC out of hemp, a non-psychoactive CBD oil is created, which is the compound that provides all the benefits.

That is exactly what is being done.  And it is being done with the approval of the Federal Government. The resulting CBD oil and the products used with this CBD oil, not only enhance the quality of life, but are perfectly legal to use.

Numerous legal to use, CBD infused products interact with the naturally occurring CBD receptors in our bodies to help our bodies function more effectively, with little or no side affects.

On the other hand, if you purchase medical marijuana and use it, you’re ingesting both THC and CBD.  Yes, you’re receiving the potential health benefits, but you also get the THC and the “high” that comes with it.  In some instances, the high may help mitigate whatever health issue an individual may be experiencing, however the “high” can restrict one’s activities, such as driving, working etc.

I encourage you to look into products made with CBD oil, and the benefits they offer.

How to Revitalize Your Aging Skin

You’re not alone if you want to revitalize your aging skin to look and feel younger. Practically, everyone is looking for anti-aging skin care these days to help keep their skin healthy.

How you look often goes hand-in-hand with how you feel. So, if you don’t look young, you may not feel young. Facial wrinkles and “crows feet” just don’t look very good, when they’re starring back at you from that mirror.

I guess just about everyone wants to look younger than they really are. I’ve been lucky, I suppose, because I have always been accused of being younger than my actual age. I’ve always hoped it has been because of my youthful look, and not immature behavior…? Maybe a little of both, I suppose. But clearly, some folks age much more gracefully than others.

Regardless of our actual age, we can all benefit by taking care of our health – including our skin. If for no other reason than when we look good, we feel good!

There are many things that make a person’s skin wrinkle and cause them to look older than they are. For example, individuals with a history of smoking tend to have more wrinkles around their eyes and mouths. Using an anti-aging skin cream can help smooth out those wrinkles and improve their self-image.

The same applies to individuals who have had a lot of sun exposure, which can cause premature wrinkling of the skin. Again, the right anti-aging skin care can help revitalize your skin, from the inside out, naturally.

The easiest way to minimize the damaging effects aging can have on our skin, is to avoid those activities that are the most detrimental to our skin. Obviously, if we can avoid smoking, don’t and if we are a smoker, the health of our skin is just another great reason to try to quit.

Another thing we will want to do, is avoid extensive exposure to direct sunlight. If we must be in the sun, use sunscreen or wear protective clothing.

The sun’s rays have always had the potential to damage one’s skin, but with the reduced ozone layer, the sun’s rays are even more intense today. We all like a good suntan, but those bronze bathing beauties won’t be looking so great in their sixties and seventies.

Another important, all natural activity we can do is to drink plenty of water. Water not only helps our body clear toxins from our body, but it also helps our skin retain its elasticity.

Let’s not forget about taking our vitamins. Our skin needs nutrients just like the rest of our body and unless we’re very proactive with our dietary needs, our skin will benefit from the regular ingestion of quality vitamins.

Of course another great tip to revitalize your aging skin is to use an anti-aging skin cream. Being good to ourself includes being good to our skin. When I was younger, I was somewhat irritated when others assumed I was considerably younger. But, now that I’m much older, the tables have turned, and I have to say, I kinda like it!

I’ve always tried to follow the rules of avoidance when it comes to  skin care, but I’m no different than many of the rest of you – I did it more by accident than with intent.

When I was barely a teen, I literally fried myself on a beach in Mexico, and suffered for weeks afterwards. That has to rank as one of the dumbest things I’ve ever done – but I’m telling you, I never put myself in a position to do that again!

Plus, I never smoked. Again, more by accident than by intent. Even though I grew up with smokers around me, I simply never developed an interest in smoking. Honestly, I tried it, but the taste was just not for me.

Despite taking steps to reduce the wear and tear on one’s body, we can’t avoid aging. A good quality, natural, anti-aging skin cream is a necessity for vital, healthy skin, and especially important if you find you must revitalize your aging skin.

I’ve looked into skin care before, but not to reduce the impact of aging, simply because I had dry, sensitive skin. I have been using skin care products of some sort, most of my life.

Now that I am getting older, I’ve been looking at anti-aging skin cream more thoroughly to find one that is good for my skin and kind to my pocket book.

Any skin care can get expensive, but if you are on a budget, don’t worry. The good news is, expensive products are not necessarily the best products. In fact once I learned more about the ingredients in these skin care products, I discovered that many of the most expensive, name brand, anti-aging skin care creams are in fact, harmful to your skin! Some actually enhance the aging process!

So, don’t let those commercials talk you into purchasing some $100 dollar skin cream just because of it’s name. That’s not to say name brand products are not good. But what I am saying is, don’t assume that because it’s expensive, it works any better than anything else on the market.

Look for the following three key ingredients in your skin care products: KanapaTM a uniquely formulated blend of super plant based, natural ingredients designed to maintain and repair the health of your skin.

Also, Nano-Lipobelle H EQ10 which penetrates down seven levels of skin to produce dramatic results; and phytessence wakame which is derived from Japanese sea kelp, heals inflamed skin, while protecting it against further damage.

Of course, there are other great, natural ingredients to help you find quality skin care products.  But a product that contains all three of these plus more active ingredients would be a great product to use on your skin.

Once you have begun using natural, healthy anti-aging skin care products to revitalize your aging skin, your skin will feel refreshed and revitalized. Making you look and feel younger!

What Does Reverse Osmosis Do?

What does reverse osmosis do, in terms of water purification? Given the popularity of this process, it’s worth reviewing.

First, what is “reverse osmosis” (RO)? It’s a process that uses pressure to force liquids through a porous membrane, in order to screen out contaminants. The size of the pores in the membrane will determine the type of contaminants that will be removed.

It was originally designed for de-mineralization and desalination, and for both, it works very well. The industrial applications are good. Many industries require the use of de-mineralized water to prevent excessive corrosion of delicate equipment.

Another example of an industrial applications, is in the food industry. It is used juice making industry, to remove water from juices, to create concentrates.

However, our bodies are not designed to consume de-mineralized water. Making home applications problematic.

Reverse osmosis is widely used by municipalities throughout the country, as one of several treatment steps to treat waste water and our drinking water.

However, it is not the best process for purifying water, despite manufacturers marketing hype.

It is affective in eliminating large contaminants and is sometimes recommended to reduce the amount of lead or cysts in water, but there are safer options. The process is worthwhile, but it is only one step in several that should be utilized.

It is also works great for reducing the sodium content in salt water, making it potable.

The biggest problem is, it’s incapable of removing chemical contaminants, because the molecular size of such contaminants are smaller than the pores of the membrane used in a RO system. They do not remove bacteria either, so an additional disinfecting method is needed.

This process also requires proper maintenance. If not properly maintained, sediment will clog the pores of the filtering membrane, providing water that cannot even be used for making coffee.

Reverse osmosis also tends to be on the expensive side, when comparing it to other more effective, filtration systems designed for use in the home.

Traces of lead can be removed through the use of ion exchange. Reverse osmosis only reduces lead to federally allowed limits. Plus, cysts can be removed by any system certified to filter down to one micron and micron particle filters cost a lot less than RO.

Finally, RO units are expensive to purchase, install and maintain and they create gallons of waste water, which translates into higher costs while creating waste for the environment. So, it’s bad for the environment and bad for your pocket book

Now that you know a little more about how reverse osmosis, you may wish to review your alternatives. In order to be effective and remove the widest range of contaminants, a home purifier should contain multiple steps, including micron filtration, carbon and multi-media blocks and ion exchange.

To answer the question, “What does reverse osmosis do for your drinking water?”; is, nothing that another less expensive, more efficient system could not do.

Do yourself, your family and your pocket book a favor, and look beyond a reverse osmosis water filtering system for your home.

Which Men’s Anti-Aging Skincare Products to Use?

Which Men’s Anti-Aging Skincare Products to Use?

The basic difference between women’s and men’s anti-aging skincare products is the inclusion of a different fragrance; something that smells “manly.”

Ironically, ingredients in fragrances are often detrimental to one’s health. It would be better for us, if they simply eliminated fragrances altogether, and offer “unisex” skincare products.

Since the 1960s, dermatologists have recommended that consumers stay away from  products that contain fragrances, as well as preservatives, because they are two of the most common causes of allergic reactions.

A simple allergic reaction to a skin care product can lead to scarring and skin damage that stays with you for life. You would think that given the risk, fragrances would be removed.

With little, if any regulation of the industry by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the cosmetic industry concentrates their resources on creating marketing niches, and fragrances contribute to that effort.

In truth, skincare products should all be created by dermatologists or other healthcare professionals, regardless of the target market.

Instead, companies with limited research staff develop these products while monitoring development costs very closely. In the United States, these companies are not required to conduct safety testing before a skin care product is made available to consumers.

Manufacturers have never heeded the suggestion to exclude fragrances and preservatives, especially when a good fragrance and long shelf life make their product more attractive to the consumer.

And really, when you think about it, what harm can a little fragrance do when it comes to women’s or men’s anti-aging skincare products? The term “fragrance,” actually may refer to any one of thousands of different chemicals used to create a fragrance or provide preservation.

Many of these chemicals are known toxins and some are known to cause cancer. All of them can stimulate responses in the central nervous system, which is linked directly to the olfactory system which includes the nose, of course.

Artificial fragrances are known to have caused depression, agitation, irritability and may also be linked to chronic fatigue and other health problems. Does that sound healthy to have in products we apply to our skin?!

You may not be allergic to the preservatives used, but what about the other health issues that have been identified? The most common preservatives are parabens and some skin care products contain as many as five different variations of them. Research indicates that they can influence the growth of cancerous tumors. Even worse, parabens can migrate into tissues when applied to the skin and predispose those cells to cancer.

As the use of chemicals has grown in our society, so has the incidence of cancer. At one time, a person’s risk of cancer was 1 in 50. That probability today is 1 in 3 for women and 1 in 2 for men.

We can’t avoid exposure to many of the chemicals used in our society, but it’s certainly unnecessary to purposely increase our risk by applying skincare creams that contain known or suspected carcinogens.

With all that potential risk, are you willing to let the skin care manufacturer decide for you whether a small amount of chemically laden fragrance is OK for you?

Additionally, there’s no reason skincare products can’t include ingredients that relieve inflammation, reduce redness, provide protection from the sun and soothe our skin (even when caused by shaving or over-exposure), naturally.

Skincare products should include ingredients that encourage our body’s to increase skin cell proliferation while stimulating the production of collagen and elastin fibers. Effective moisturizers should also be included, to provide increased resistance to damage.

The following is a list of ingredients to look for in your skincare products.  All of them are natural ingredients which will improve the overall good health of your skin:

  • Keratin derived from New Zealand sheep’s wool,
  • Wakame kelp,
  • capuacu butter,
  • Babassu wax,
  • grape seed oil,
  • vitamin B5,
  • vitamin E,
  • coenzyme Q10 and
  • witch hazel.

The best men’s skincare creams contain all of these ingredients with no preservatives or fragrances added.  Use products that include these ingredients and your skin will look younger and stay healthier.

A Guide to Anti-Aging Skin Care Treatments

The following is designed to serve as a brief anti-aging skin care guide. Our goal is to provide an understanding of some of the benefits and drawbacks of anti-aging skincare treatments. As well as providing a basis for searching for quality products to improve the health of your skin.

There are hundreds of products on the market designed to help enrich your skin. Each claim to be the best at making you look and feel younger. How do you know what works and what doesn’t?  Hopefully, the following information will provide some answers.

The sun is responsible for 90% of the changes in our skin that we attribute to getting older. Wrinkles, fine lines, and changes in the tone and texture of our skin are all caused by ultraviolet (UV), radiation. Sagging skin and bags under our eyes are caused by a loss of elastin – the stretchy material in our skin. Which accounts for the remaining 10%.

The majority of the damage to our skin is done before we reach the age of twenty. Despite this knowledge we are continually encouraged to use sunscreen whenever we’re exposed to direct sunlight, to avoid damaging our skin further.

That’s all good and well, provided there’s no adverse affects associated with the use of sunscreen.  Which, until recently was the belief.

We know its use may decrease the risk of squamous and basal cell cancer, but it now appears to increase the risk of melanoma, which is the most deadly form of skin cancer.

It is unclear whether the increased risk of melanoma is caused by the sun block chemicals being absorbed through the pores of our skin or merely over-reliance on the products to protect our skin.

What is clear, research shows anti-aging skin care treatment which is designed to be used daily, should not contain sunscreen.

Even though most of the damage to our skin is done when we are young, that doesn’t mean that we cannot restore some of that damage. We can encourage our body to create new collagen, new elastin and new skin-cells, all while increasing levels of proteins that are important for all of these processes.  In doing so, we will look and feel younger.

There are products currently available on the market that will help rejuvenate our skin. But, we are going to have search diligently to find them. The best way to do that, is by reading through the ingredients of the available products.

There are specific ingredients that have been found to be truly effective in rejuvenating one’s skin. For example, there is clinical research supporting the effectiveness of anti-aging skin care treatments that contain Keratin, wakame and nano-lipobelle.

Keratin is a protein that is needed to create and repair the skin’s layers and cells. This particular type of protein can easily be absorbed and used by the human body for that repair work.

The best, most natural Keratin, is a combination of natural bioactive Keratin and a nutritional hydrolysed keratin, which is derived from the wool of New Zealand sheep.

You are likely aware free radicals may cause cancer in our bodies, but did you know the negative effects that free radicals can have on our skin? They can adversely affect the integrity of the collagen and elastin fibers in our skin, eventually causing wrinkles.

Just as we may take antioxidants orally to destroy free radicals inside our bodies, we need antioxidants for our skin, as well. Nano-lipobelle and wakame have powerful antioxidant capabilities. Wakame extract is derived from a specific kind of sea kelp.

While, Nano-lipobelle is a specially created formula containing vitamin E and co-enzyme Q-10. This ingredient is designed to penetrate through all our skin’s layers, destroying free radicals as it goes.

Beware of anti-aging skin care products that contain sun block.  And remember, only the best skin care treatments contain all of the nourishing ingredients mentioned here.

We hope this information provides a starting point on your quest to a healthier, more natural rejuvenation of your skin.

Does Green Tea Have Caffeine and If So, Should I Be Drinking It?

Green tea has between 10 to 80 milligrams of caffeine per cup.  More importantly, it contains catechins which are antioxidants that are good for your health, and help reduce the affects of aging. So, you probably shouldn’t worry too much about the caffeine, as long as you are careful about your overall daily consumption.

According to the experts at the Mayo Clinic, exceeding 500 milligrams of caffeine per day can cause health problems such as anxiety, nervousness, heart palpitations and insomnia. If most of your daily caffeine consumption is from tea or coffee, you are probably okay.

However, if you are taking any dietary supplements you should be aware most contain caffeine and combining them with tea or coffee consumption could be unhealthy.

In fact, many weight loss products contain large amounts of caffeine, in addition to other stimulants, such tea-extracts which often contain natural amounts of caffeine. Some of the most popular brands contain 500 milligrams per dose, which is right at the threshold of being dangerous.

Green tea supplements also contain caffeine, though the amount varies considerably. The intended purpose of the supplement will probably dictate the amount of caffeine present. Be sure to read the label, prior to buying the product.

Because green tea is good for the immune system, there are high quality immune system boosters on the market that contain 200 milligrams of the extract. On average the amount of caffeine in these extracts usually varies between 2% to 4%.  Something to consider when reviewing what the dosage is.

One of the main reasons the amount of caffeine in green tea varies, is the variation that occurs naturally in the actual plants, themselves. The caffeine content of each plant varies and even the amount of caffeine within leaves of the same plant can vary. The same is true of the nutritional content. So, the number of catechins in each leaf may vary, too.

Even decaffeinated green tea has caffeine in it – the amount has been reduced.  However the decaffeination process is not perfect and fails to remove 100% of the stimulant present in the plant. On top of that, the chemical solvents that are typically used in the decaffeinating process, often leaves behind a residue which is bad for your health. You’re actually better off drinking small amounts of the caffeinated varieties, rather than the decaffeinated varieties of green tea.

What about the caffeine content when the green tea extract is included in an anti-aging supplement? And why is the extract included in those supplements in the first place?

All natural extracts of green tea contain a small amount of caffeine. But, as mentioned above the quantity is rather minimal. As for why it is included in anti aging supplements at all, that’s due to its unique antioxidant activity.

As mentioned above, catechins are antioxidants, which help your body resist aging.  And, as antioxidants go, they are some of the better ones, although glutathione is far more potent. The best anti-aging supplements contain the reduced form of l-glutathione (because it is more easily absorbed by the body), a good amount of catechins and a number of other antioxidants.

In summary, if you want the benefit of green tea without the caffeine, then you’re better off taking a high quality supplement. They may help everyone live a little longer.

Why You Need a Home Water Filtration System!

When considering a water filtration system for your home, one of the first questions you may ask yourself is, “Do I really need to filter my water?” The answer is a simple and emphatic, yes! You see, the processes used by your local water treatment facility are simply not sufficient to protect the health of your family.

According to news reports and government studies, tap water originating at a public water source contains numerous contaminants that can threaten our health, despite filtered and decontaminated. Lead is one of the primary concerns, especially for your children.

The EPA has determined that within many cities around the country, residents should not drink tap water, primarily because of the presence of lead. There is no safe level of exposure to lead. It tends to accumulate in ones body and can cause birth defects, brain damage, learning disabilities and a host of other health problems. A quality home water filtration system will remove lead. Note, I said, “quality” filtration system! Shop carefully, to assure the system you decide to purchase does, in fact remove lead as well as other, microscopic contaminants.

Two of the cities sited as having specific problems with dangerous levels of lead content in their water are Washington DC and Baltimore. The source of the problem is in the distribution of the water – or the lead pipes used to transport the water. In these cases it simply doesn’t matter how well the public water filtration system works because the clean water must travel through lead pipes before reaching your home.

Flint, Michigan as we all now know, has a serious problem with lead in their water, due to an aging infrastructure.  Of course, their situation was exacerbated by the city making the fateful choice to change their supply source, without first verify the new source was safe. But their situation highlights the status of the aging infrastructures across the country.  Everybody should be leery of the safety of their drinking water. If you can, take control and invest in a complete home water filtration system. In the least, you should be filtering your drinking water. But I digress…

Most public water treatment plants sanitize the water by adding chlorine to it. Chlorine does a great job on neutralizing a lot of contaminants, but it doesn’t do a thing to lead or to the numerous chemicals readily found in our water. What is needed is a filtration system that utilizes activated carbon and specialized micron filters to remove a multitude of contaminants, rendering the water safe for drinking and for any other use around a home.

Most people consider contaminated drinking water to be a major concern, as they should. They can resolve that issue by purchasing a filtration system that can be attached to their kitchen water supply. However, a study by the FDA found the majority of homes in the United States have a detectable level of chloroform gas in the air, which is caused by showering in unfiltered tap water. Because newer homes are more tightly constructed and energy efficient, there is less airflow. This lack of fresh air, essentially traps chlorine gas in the house, just like heat is trapped in the winter and air conditioning is trapped in the in the summer.

Chlorine vapors trigger asthma and allergy attacks. When chlorine vapors transform into chloroform gas, the symptoms of exposure include unexplained headaches and dizziness. An obvious solution for this is to attach a filter to the shower, which will filter out chlorine, preventing the build up of chloroform gas your home.

No one knows for sure all the health problems that could be prevented by properly filtering our water with a quality in-home filtration system. Remember, there are over 2000 different chemicals found floating around in our tap water.  With only a few being tested for, that pure, clear water coming from your tap may be clear, but it’s likely not all that pure and could realistically be causing you and your family either immediate or long term health issues.

The water filtration system used by your local utility company will probably protect you from cholera and dysentery, but it will definitely not protect you from the dangers of lead, from cancer causing chemicals and from other health problems associated with chlorine. It’s up to you to protect your own health and that of your family.

Learn the Secret to Reverse Skin Aging

All of us simply want to find a magic formula that will reverse skin aging, but with the huge of products that we are being offered the odds of us finding one are pretty slim.

Aging skin treatment, for the most part, is smoke and mirrors. Most of the products available to us won’t come anywhere close to treating the causes of our lines and wrinkles. They are simply not equipped with the right ingredients.

In order to truly reverse skin aging a product has to address not only the loss of collagen and elastin, but also the breakdown of hyaluronic acid, and the free radical damage that has occurred over the years.

There are only a handful of formulas that have been developed that address all the issues that contribute to the break down of our skin. Unfortunately, you’re not going to find these products on store shelves.

Most of the typical skin care products found at your local stores are ineffective. These formulas more often than not will contain collagen and elastin, along with the common array of questionable chemical agents. But they may actually be doing more damage to your skin.

These products will do absolutely nothing to reverse skin aging, because for one thing the primary ingredients won’t work. Collagen and elastin are too dense on a molecular level to be able pass through your skin effectively, so they can never reach an area where they would be of any good to you. The other ingredients in these products are downright dangerous.

The chemical agents which most companies in the cosmetics industry pass off as part of their aging skin treatment can have an adverse effect on your system. Many of them have been found to cause a variety of ailments that include cancer, organ toxicity, and nervous system damage.

There is one commonly used antibacterial agent that creates antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria in humans. Which is kind of scary…

The way to reverse skin aging is through the use of products containing nothing except natural ingredients. Plant based ingredients will provide your skin with all of the antioxidants necessary to combat the effects of UV produced free radicals, and they will also repair all of the damage that the free radicals have done.

Ah, but what about the tissue loss, you rightfully ask.

The most effective treatment for reversing tissue loss is the one that combines Functional Keratin, and Phytessence Wakame extract. These two natural compounds will act to stimulate the increase of collagen and elastin production, and raise the level of your hyaluronic acid by preventing the attacking enzyme from destroying this tissue.

The all natural products that feature Functional Keratin and Phytessence Wakame give you everything that you need in order to reverse skin aging.

It is just a shame that there is only one company that is producing such a formula. Use the ingredients mentioned here, and you will be looking younger than you ever thought you could.
